AXA Selects Photocert as their baseline for process automation

AXA Italy, world-leading providers of assistance and insurance, and Photocert, a London-based insurtech solution company, are collaborating to deliver AXA customers quicker and more efficient claims processes, using Photocert’s AI media verification and process automation.

How will Photocert benefit AXA?

AXA’s 2023 plan seeks technological innovation towards a more client-centric service. Thanks to insurtech, achieving this bjective becomes increasingly possible. By automating more workflows, AXA will simplify the customer experience and accelerate the efficiency of claims and underwriting processes. It is also essential to mention that with the unpredictable global situation covid has imposed on us, clients will now have the option to avoid visits from loss adjusters while leaving no policyholder behincing the customer’s journey.

Process automation for insurers is something we increasingly hear about. It helps simplify complex business processes, reduces costs and enhances customer service. As more and more insurance companies are relying on visual evidence to proceed with operations, the necessity to have reliable data is essential. Meanwhile, extracting data from images with AI is not an easy task.

Suppose you are looking at a photo of a glass, it would be easy to recognize as a glass. However, what if you are looking at a picture of a picture of glass? Due to this “transparent” example, one cannot predict the results of a machine learning algorithm that, though made well, could also not be prepared for the “creativity” of fraudsters. The authentication of images in these cases allows insurers to be more confident about what they’re seeing.

The integration of systems will take place early this year. As a first step, the “my AXA app” will allow you to take certified pictures. This will guarantee that the data received from policyholders, body shops, and other third parties are credible and reliable.

An ideal partnership

Riccardo Gili, head of claims Innovation, Telematics, Antifraud and International claims departments at AXA, said he was very excited about the new partnership:
“We’ve been looking into different AI solutions to establish and certify the authenticity of pictures with the aim to enhance customer experience and improve our operational efficiency. With Photocert we will be able to do so while putting once again the policyholder first”.

Paquale Saviano, CEO of Photocert, also expressed: “We are extremely proud to deliver our product to AXA Italy. In particular, like us, they believe in AI to enable process automation but with an open eye on fraud prevention. As with other clients we work with, they want to prevent a new “trend” of fraud based on non-genuine visual media.
